Off-Grid Cabin - Battery Replacement
The lead acid battery bank at this cabin had reached the end of its life, and was in dire need of replacement. All sixteen 6V lead acid batteries were removed and replaced with eight Renogy 48V 50Ah lithium iron phosphate batteries. Thanks to the internal BMS and self-heating capabilities in the new LiFePO4 batteries, they are maintenance-free and ready to provide power all year long. The old lead acid batteries needed nearly 20 gallons of distilled water every few months!
To facilitate the battery swap, the Victron Lynx bus bar system was used to easily allow for parallel battery connections, main and branch fuse wiring, and battery monitoring. This bus bar integrates perfectly with the existing Victron inverter/charger, solar charge controller, and remote system monitor.
